Mark Justin Roiland is an acclaimed American actor, voice actor, animator, writer, producer, director and comedian. He has achieved much success in his career, having worked on a multitude of popular projects.

Mark Justin Roiland is an incredibly talented American voice actor, animator, writer, producer, and director. His most prominent works are Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty and its franchise, as well as Hulu’s Solar Opposites, in which he voices the main character, Korvo.

 He has also featured in Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, and Fish Hooks. Roiland founded his own animation studio, Justin Roiland’s Solo Vanity Card Productions!, and the video game studio Squanch Games. A master of his craft, his creations are enjoyed worldwide and have made him a true entertainment icon.

Justin Roiland Early life

 

Roiland was born February 211980 in Stockton, California, USA and attended Sierra High School up until the first quarter of his senior year before transferring to Manteca High School to finish off his senior year and graduating in 1998. After that, he went on to pursue higher education at Modesto Junior College in Modesto, California. Interestingly, Roiland is dyslexic.

He is famous for being the co-creator and executive producer of the Adult Swim animated series Rick and Morty, in which he provides the voice of both the show’s main characters, Oscar in Disney Channel’s animated series Fish Hooks, the Earl of Lemongrab on Adventure Time, and Blendin Blandin on Gravity Falls.

He moved to Los Angeles in 2004 and joined Channe1101, a media collective created by Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab, where he made and featured in several movie shorts (such as 2 Girls One Cup: The Show and House of Cosbys) and on the Video Hits One series Acceptable Television.

 He often appeared on The Sarah Silverman Program on Comedy Central as “Blonde Craig”. Presently, he is a voice actor, most notably as the title characters of Rick & Morty, for which he is also co-creator, co-writer and executive producer with Dan Harmon.

Since 2010, he has partnered up with Ryan Ridley, the writer of Rick and Morty, and Jackie Buscarino, the producer of Steven Universe, to present The Grandma’s Virginity Podcast.

At the Rick and Morty panel at San Diego Comic-Con International 2014, he mentioned that one of his primary influences was Pendleton Ward and that he enjoyed seeing The Ren & Stimpy Show when he was a child. He lent his voice to the following video games: Jerry’s Game (2014) (as Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith), Dota 2 (2015) (Rick and Morty Announcer Pack), Doctor Langeskov, The Tiger, and the Terribly Cursed Emerald (2015) and Pocket Mortys (2016) (as Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith).

Collection 

In January 2021, Roiland offered a collection of over a dozen artworks, named “The Best I Could Do”, in his first NFT art exhibit. His most expensive piece was by his Simpsons homage The Smintons, which was sold at $290,100.

The entire collection was sold for a total of $1.65 million. Additionally, Roiland put his first painting, titled mypeoplefriend, up for auction by Sotheby’s in July 2021. Controversies

On August 2020, American musician and Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland was charged with felony domestic battery and false imprisonment in connection with an incident involving an unnamed woman in Orange County, California. He was released on bail and his hearing is set for April 2023.

The news of the charges was first reported by NBC News in January 2023, and the same day, musician Allie Goertz shared screenshots of inappropriate messages allegedly sent by Roiland.

Following this, Adult Swim announced that Roiland had been dismissed from Rick and Morty, and his roles would be recast for future seasons. Roiland also resigned from his company, Squanch Games, on January 16, 2023.
